INDUSTRIES TO ACQUIRE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 13, 2000, Akron, Ohio USA -- Myers Industries, Inc. (AMEX: MYE) has agreed to purchase for cash all outstanding shares of RB Manufacturing Company of Sandusky, Ohio. RB is a well-known manufacturer of metal material handling carts and also produces wooden carts under the Dura Products brand name. The acquisition is expected to close in early October. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sales for RB Manufacturing were approximately $7 million in 1999. RB designs and produces nearly 300 cart products, including platform trucks, portable shelf carts, and hand trucks for industrial and warehouse operations, as well as specialty carts and racks for garden centers and nurseries. RB has one manufacturing facility and employs 70 people. "RB is a good fit in our manufacturing segment, said Stephen E. Myers, president and chief executive officer of Myers Industries. "Its products strengthen our material handling cart offering and will help us to expand our opportunities in industrial and commercial markets." The purchase is consistent with Myers Industries practice of responding to opportunities that broaden the Companys range of products and capabilities, extend reach to new customers, and provide good potential for growth and increased profitability. Myers Industries, Inc. (AMEX: MYE) is an international manufacturer of plastic and rubber products for industrial, agricultural, automotive, commercial, and consumer markets. The Company is also the largest wholesale distributor of tools, equipment, and supplies for the tire service and automotive underbody repair industry in the United States.
