JEAN-PAUL LESAGE NAMED VICE PRESIDENT FOR MYERS INDUSTRIES, INC.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 30, 2000, Akron, Ohio USA -- Myers Industries, Inc., has named Jean-Paul Lesage vice president of the Company. He is currently CEO and president of Myers’ Allibert Équipement business, a leading supplier of reusable plastic containers and pallets, which is headquartered in Nanterre, France.

As vice president, Mr. Lesage will represent Myers Industries’ interests in its European businesses which include: Allibert Équipement, raaco, and Buckhorn Limited. Myers European companies make more than 1,500 products ranging from small parts containers and storage bins to bulk shipping containers and storage tanks for agriculture, automotive, industrial manufacturing, food processing, and water treatment. The Company employs nearly 1,100 employees in six manufacturing facilities in Denmark, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Sales offices are located in Austria, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.

Mr. Lesage joined Allibert Équipement in 1976 as a controller and was later made director of Allibert’s European Habitat Division-company and subsidiaries. He became president and CEO of Allibert Équipement in 1992. Myers Industries acquired Allibert Équipement from Sommer Allibert in 1999.

Mr. Lesage holds degrees in mathematics and economics from the University of Caen in Normandy. He is a member of DFCG, the National Association of Controllers and Financial Directors; APM, National Association of CEO and Directors for Management Progress; and a member of the board of CSEMP, a national association for packaging companies. Mr. Lesage is also an elected vice president for economic development with “communaute de communes” a group of four cities.
