INC. ACQUIRES FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 26, 1998, Milford, Ohio USA -- Buckhorn Inc. has acquired for cash, certain assets and operations of Kadon Corporation of Dayton, Ohio. Kadon, a privately-owned manufacturer of plastic structural foam material handling products with 1997 sales of approximately $8 million, will become part of Buckhorn, a Myers Industries company. Terms of the acquisition have not been released. Kadon produces both custom-engineered and proprietary products for automotive, consumer, industrial and commercial markets. Its proprietary products include tote boxes, bins, pallets, robotic trays, wash baskets and heavy-duty plastic storage boxes. "Kadon is well-run and we are pleased to include them as part of our company," said William J. Tonachio, general manager of Buckhorn. "We are confident the addition will enhance our engineering, product design, and manufacturing capabilities. It will also strengthen our position as a full-service supplier of plastic reusable material handling products." Commenting on the sale, Cathy Coon, Kadon president said, "One of our primary concerns was a desire to maintain the excellent working relationships we have with our customers and our employees. We held several discussions with Buckhorn on that point and have been assured that they will continue to build on the partnerships we have worked so hard to establish." Buckhorn, a Myers Industries, Inc. company (AMEX: MYE), designs and manufactures reusable bulk and hand-held containers, plastic pallets, and interior dunnage; and provides reusable packaging services including system planning implementation, project management, and packaging design. -END- |
