Our Story

In 1933, Meyer and Louis Myers opened Myers Tire Supply in Akron, OH. In the early years, they lived by a humble commitment: “Everything for the Tire Dealer.” Almost a full century later, that “everything” has taken on a whole new meaning, and the “for” has evolved impressively. What started as a small storefront has become Myers Industries, the largest tire repair supply distributor in the United States, as well as an international plastics manufacturer of returnable packaging, storage, safety products and specialty molding.

Early on, the brothers grew the business modestly but strategically, opening an international warehouse in Canada, and domestic branches across the United States. In 1946 they expanded further, founding Patch Rubber Company and Akro-Mils; the latter company making plastic products, which foreshadowed the manufacturing empire that was to come. Throughout the 20th century, new material-handling products were introduced, and similar businesses were acquired.

The result is a diversified material-handling business, encompassing several industries. Myers Tire Supply is the largest distributor serving the U.S. aftermarket, specializing in equipment, tools and supplies for tire repairs. Our company has a sterling reputation, and around 2,400 employees dedicated to driving the business forward. From storage bins to tire-changing equipment, from safety cabinets to under-vehicle supplies, and from portable fuel tanks to tire repair plugs, Myers Industries provides everyday solutions that offer modern convenience.
